Language

Kosraean is closely related to the Micronesian languages of Chuuk, the Marshalls, and Pohnpei. It is spoken in the home, at work, and in other arenas. English is widely spoken, taught in schools and used in government establishments and upon meeting visitors. Some older people speak Japanese. Kosraean belongs to the Austronesian language family, as do all of the Micronesian languages.
