Steps built in the Japanese colonial eraHistoric site visits

On days that visitors don’t dive, snorkel, kayaking or isn't any surf, your guide will show you different sets of ruins. These are simple hikes and can be done by people of all ages and abilities.

Kayaking

Enjoy a peaceful day of kayaking through mangrove forests.

Our crystal clear waters will allow you take pleasure in viewing some of our amazing coral and abundant marine life.

Traditional Outrigger Boat Tours

A trip through Kosrae’s mangrove channels is an enchanting experience that’s a must do! The channels offer a peaceful and tranquil ride, where one can see Kosrae’s oldest mangrove trees with prop roots and buttress roots. Other added attractions are monitor lizards, crab catching, birds, and fish. The guides are very good and will make it a very memorable experience.

Bird Watching

There are several species of endemic birds on Kosrae including the state bird, the Kosrae Dusky White Eye. This bird is small and gray, who climbs up coconut trees probing in cracks for insects. Others are Micronesian pigeons, a colorful Purple Capped Fruit Dove, Micronesian Starling, Cardinals, Honey Eaters, and Frigate. Some coastal/mangrove residents include, the Brown and Black Noddy, Reef Heron, Kosrae Crake, Island Swiftlets, Long Tailed Cuckoo’s and Ferry Terns. The Audubon Shearwater spends most of its life at sea but comes ashore when its nesting time. Kosrae is also home to, Whimbrels, Tattlers, Golden Glover, Ruddy Turnstones, Shoeller, Short Eared Owl, Wild Chicken, and Pintails. Kosrae has 15 resident bird species and 9 migratory visitors.

Sport Fishing

This is becoming a very popular sport in Kosrae for visitors. Any of the dive shops or hotels can arrange this tour.

Climb to Mt. Finkol

Mt. Finkol is the highest point on Kosrae reaching 2,064 ft. This climb is for the highly fit and adventurous. This hike requires a guide and takes a full day from sunup to sundown. The remoteness of your surroundings gives you the feeling that you’re the first one to ever reach the summit!
